2/22 Threshing barn and adjoining horse - engine house about 10 metres south west of Mornacott Farmhouse GV II
Threshing barn and adjoining horse engine house. Probably 1870s, and probably contemporary with other farmbuildings at Mornacott. Stone rubble with a slate roof, gabled at ends of barn, hipped at end of horse engine house. Plan: Large rectangular bank barn with a threshing loft over a shippon. Contemporary horse engine house in the centre on the north side with a canted north end. Exterior: The south elevation, facing the yard, has 7 C19 doors and 4 windows on the ground floor and 3 loft doors. The rear elevation is symmetrical with tall C19 paired doors to the threshing floor flanking the horse engine house and smaller C19 doors, one to the left and one to the right. Interior: Threshing barn not inspected, the beam survives in the horse engine house. Group value with Mornacott Farmhouse (q.v.) and other farmbuildings.
