TALATON
TALATON Courtyard of Farm buildings adjoining to west of Harris's Farmhouse
GII
Courtyard of farmbuildings.Late C17 origins, much rebuilt in the C19.Plastered cob on stone rubble footings, rebuilt in red brick;slate roof. There is a courtyard of farmbuildings adjoining the west end of Talaton farmhouse(q.v).The three ranges faces into the courtyard but no inspection was available at the time of this survey. The rear(south-facing)wall of the southern range was all that could be seen.It appears to contain a couple of byres or stables;two doors, one each side of a pair of windows and a single first floor window which may once have been a hayloft loading hatch. At the right end the roof is carried over a full height carriageway between the farmbuildings and farmhouse. The roof is hipped to left as it returns to the west range. These farmbuildings form part of a very good group of listed buildings in the vicinity of the Church of St James(q.v).
