Details

SADDLEWORTH GELLFIELD LANE SE 00 NW (west side) 4/105 Kirklea - G.V. II Vicarage, now house. c.1825 with addition of late C19. Watershot hammer-dressed stone with graduated stone slate roof. Double-depth central-staircase plan with 2 storeys and gabled addition to right. 3 bays with projecting plinth and eaves cornice. Central porch has obtuse-angled lintel over an ovolo-moulded door surround and a coped gable with ball finial. 2 ground foor and 3 first floor windows have pointed arch square-cut surrounds and casements with interlaced glazing bars. Similar windows to sides and rear. The rear also has a tall stair window. Gable stacks. The later addition is set back and has a coped gable with kneelers. Interior retains 6-panel doors and has an arched glazed screen with interlaced bars separating the stair hall from the outer hall.
