Details

COLDRIDGE COLDRIDGE SS 60 NE 1/28 Handcock headstone approximately - 15 metres south-west of tower of Church of St Matthew GV II

Headstone. Dated 1808 in memory of John Handcock and members of his family. Slate. Upright nowy-headed slab standing approximately 1.2 metres high. The inscription has the first word 'Sacred' written in ornate Gothic letters continued in upper and lower case Roman serif letters and records the death of John Handcock (died 1808), his wife Grace (died 1783) and grandchildren (died 1798). The head is filled with charmingly crude bas-relief carving having a central circle inscribed with a Biblical quote flanked by relatively crude angel supporters.
