Medieval style: stilted Tudor arch with dripcourse carried over the head, flanked by dry cutwaters continued as refuges in parapet wall, which has roll-moulded and weathered coping and splayed outer ends. Two inlaid stone tablets, the major, on the outer face of the north-east refuge, with stylised lettering in relief stating that to celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII a sum of £2,737 was raised by public subscription to acquire the wood for the use and enjoyment of the inhabitants of the Borough for ever.
