5/43 Barn to west of Stephen Park - GV II
Barn, 'IHP 1736' on plaque in east wall. Slobbered rubble with stone slate roof. Wider at the south end, where there is an underhoused shippon, with a 2nd shippon at the north end. The east wall has a wide entrance with long-and-short jambs and an arched head of 2 pieces of stone. At the far right is a door with long-and-short jambs. At the far left is a similar door, now blocked. The gables have copings and shaped kneelers. The south wall has 2 shippon doors with plain reveals. At the rear (west) is a blocked threshing door and later additions., Inside are the remains of cattle stalls at both ends, now partly destroyed. The roof trusses, from south to north, are as follows. 1. A tie beam with curved queen struts, and a short king post rising from a collar. 2. A tie beam with curved queen struts, the principals curved to meet a king block which is shaped at the bottom. 3. A tie beam with curved queen struts, and a king block, shaped at the bottom. 4. A softwood truss with tie beam, straight queen struts, and a king block.
