1/47 Tongue Hill Farmhouse 24-11-96 (Formerly listed as Tongue Hill - II off Victoria Road)

Farmhouse, dated 1735 above door, now house. Sandstone rubble on plinth, with quoins, stone slate roof with one chimney on the ridge at the junction of the 1st and 2nd bays, and chimneys at both gables. Rectangular 3-bay plan. Two storeys; low let floor band; doorway between 2nd and 3rd bays has simple ashlar surround with moulded cornice in the band, and at 1st floor above this is a square datestone with moulded surround, inscribed P ; three 4-light windows on each R E 1735 floor, all recessed with hollow-chamfered mullions. Left return wall has, set back, a single-storey lean-to, and at 1st floor a similar 4-light window with a hoodmould. Rear has a band and windows similar to those at the front: 4 at ground floor, of 3, 2, 2 and 3 lights, and 2 at 1st floor, both of 2 lights with hoodmoulds; between these a stairlight and a smaller window. Interior: quarter-round moulded beams in all ground floor rooms, and 2 others in the roof; longitudinal partition giving the impression of a 6-room plan, the rear rooms much smaller.
