Details

CLAUGHTON SD 54 SW Longfield House and stable 8/61 17-4-1967 adjoining to north-west - II House, 1667, with later stable. Sandstone rubble with slate roof and brick chimneys. Baffle-entry plan. 3 bays, with further bay added to right. Windows rebated and chamfered, with mullions removed on ground floor. Those on the 1st floor are of 3 lights and 4 lights, with a horizontal sash with plain reveals in the right-hand bay of the original house. The addition has a modern lean-to against its front wall, a modern window with plain reveals to its left, and a 3-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window on the 1st floor. Door, between 2nd and 3rd bays, has chamfered surround with battlemented lintel inscribed: '1667 WGE'. Chimneys at right and in line with door. The stable, set back at the left, has 2 doors with plain reveals with a similar window between them. On the 1st floor there is a pitching door,with a window to its right with plain reveals.
