HOUGHTON AND WYTON THICKET ROAD 1. 5140 (north side) Houghton Millers Meade TL 28 72 13/34 GV II

2. C18 house, two-storeys and attics with late C17 rear wing to west of one and a half- storeys faced in C19 gault brick. C19 extensions in the angle of the two ranges. Red brick, old plain tile roof with end stacks. Symmetrical first-floor range of three large hung sash windows with glazing bars in moulded architraves. Trio flat-roofed, canted, bay windows with hung sashes flank central, half-glazed door in moulded archi- trave with segmental arched head. Modern flat canopy on scroll brackets. Interior: very fine closed-string staircase of six flights and two landings with turned balusters and pendant ball finials to newels. Moulded ceiling beads and cornices. The home of Potto Brown, Houghton miller. (Inskip Ladds Records. Norris Museum, St Ives ). (RCHM Huntingdonshire p 144 Mon 5).
