CROSTON DRINKHOUSE ROAD SD 41 NE 8/71 Hey House Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, late C17 or early C18, altered. Handmade brick, slate roof. Three-bay baffle-entry plan. Two storeys; 3-course band to 2nd and 3rd bays; gabled single-storey porch in line with ridge chimney at junction of 1st and 2nd bays, inner board door with strap hinges; to the right, 2 large segmental-headed windows with splayed brick heads at ground floor, 2 square windows above, all with altered glazing; to left, one similar window on each floor. chimney on ridge, another at right gable. Interior: back-to-back inglenook fireplaces in 1st and 2nd bays; one rounded beam in 1st bay, 2 ovolo-moulded lateral beams in 2nd; off rear corner of 2nd bay (housepart) a doglegged staircase with splat balusters; 2 service doors at lower end of this room. History: gable of barn to west of item is lettered N (reversed). Y I 1688
