Farmhouse. Probably C16 with C17 remodelling, upper end rebuilt and extended in
1923 following fire. Colourwashed rendered rubble and cob. Slate roof with brick
ridge stack, thatched roof to right end with brick stack with lipped cap and
lateral hall stack to front with offsets, tapered cap, heightened in brick.
Projecting bread oven with slate canopy to its left. Hall and inner room survive
with rebuilding and extension of lower end to left of cross-passage. 2 storeys. 5
window range. C20 fenestration to left of hall stack, C19 2-light casement, 6 panes
per light and 9 panes per light above tall C19 2-light window with 4-paned window
inserted below and 2-light window to right, 12 panes per light. 4 panelled door
with overlight. C19 2-light window 2 panes per light above rubble lean-to to rear
of thatched portion with part slate, part corrugated asbestos roof.
Interior: there is no access to roof space but the elaborately moulded beams to the
hall with large bar stops raise the ceiling height above the plastered downstand
construction incorporating moulded scroll-stepped bressumer at lower end suggesting
possibility of jettied lower end to former open hall.
