6/209 Higher Lench Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, early C17 with C18 addition, altered, now house. Sandstone rubble with quoins, and watershot coursed sandstone, stone slate roofs with gable chimneys to the C18 part. T-shaped plan: 2-bay C17 house on north-south axis, with 2-bay C18 extension at right angles'on the east side. All 2 storeys (older part possibly raised): south gable wall has a 5-light double-chamfered stone mullion window with hoodmould (lacking 2 mullions), side wall has a similar 3-light window at this end, remains of another in the left bay, and north gable wall has a similar 3-light window on each floor (this part damaged and partly concealed from outside); other openings of this element of less interest. Addition to east has on its south side a single-storey gabled porch with side door and window, a stepped triple-light window to the left, and remains of at least 2 similar windows above (several lights blocked); right return wall has one window on each floor, the lower sashed and the upper with one flush mullion. Interior not inspected, appears to be renovated, but is said to contain original king-post roof truss.
