5/53 Former farmhouse on south-east side 4-10-1967 of farmyard at Barkin Gate (formerly listed as Barkin Gate) - II
Former house, now used as farm store, 1709. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Windows have mullions and are rebated and chamfered except for the left-hand one on the 1st floor which is chamfered. Drip course. The left-hand ground-floor window is of 3 lights with a further light to the left beyond a king mullion. The right-hand window, formerly of 3 lights, has one mullion remaining. The 1st floor windows are of 2, 2, and 3 lights. The door has a moulded surround with battlemented lintel inscribed: '1709 RWI'. End chimneys. Stair wing at rear probably of mid C18th date. Interior has re-used cruck timbers, a probable firehood bressumer and a C19th stair.
