SD 56 NE HALTON-WITH-AUGHTON MAIN STREET Aughton 8/114 Aughton Old Hall (formerly 4. 10. 1967 listed as Aughton Hall)

GV II

House, late C17th. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. 2-unit with central entrance and gable stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays. To the left of the porch are 2 rebated and chamfered square window surrounds each with central mullion removed. To the right is an altered window with modern casement and plain reveals, with a chamfered 1-light fire window beyond. 5 windows on 1st floor, all 2-light with mullion and rebated and chamfered surround, except for the right-hand one which has plain reveals and a modern casement. Gabled porch has side entrance and is of rock-faced stone of late C19th or early C20th date. Original stair wing to north is now extended to west.
