5/179 Chain Lodge (or North Lodge) 4-10-1967 (Formerly listed as Quernmore Park Lodge Caton Road) GV II
Lodge to Quernmore Park (q.v.), c.1800. Possibly by Thomas Harrison. Sandstone ashlar with slate roof. Central section of two storeys, with one bay of one storey at each side. Centrepiece has 2 2-storey piers linked by a segmental arch within the open timber pediment which forms the gable. Between the piers are 2 unfluted Greek Doric columns in antis with an entablature at 1st floor level. Above is a window with architrave and segmental head. Between the columns is a doorway with architrave. The side bays have slightly battered walls, windows with architraves, and an entablature with blocking course. On each side of the central section is a chimney with cornice.
