Details
SX 8366 IPPLEPEN NORTH STREET 6/193 No 1 Greenhill including Garden Boundary Wall adjoining North East G.V II House and front garden boundary wall. Circa early C19. Rendered and lined out, probably stone rubble. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends. Hipped roof over rear wing. Large rendered internal gable end stacks with tapered caps. Plan: 2 equal size principal rooks in the front range heated by gable end stacks and with central entrance passage probably containing the stairs. The rear wing with a lateral stack on the right side probably contains the pervice rooks. 2 storeys symmetrical 3 window range. Early C19 12 pane sashes with exposed boxing. Central doorway with early C19 6 panel door, the top 4 panels are fielded, the lower panels are flush; rectangular fanlight with diagonal glazing bars; wooden trellis porch with flat roof. Including the front garden area wall: Circa early C19; limestone rubble without coping except for the north east end which has rustic volcanic stone coping. Long rectangular enclosure in front of the house surrounded by high garden walls swept up where they meet the house. At the centre of the opposite end a gateway with a dressed limestone surround with an elliptical arch and a rustic volcanic stone parapet flanked by pyramidal cap stones; iron gate with spearhead shafts, finials, ornate wrought iron mid rail with ornate ironwork below. The right hand (north) corner of the wall is rounded. Interior of house not inspected. An unaltered early C19 house possibly containing interesting internal features of the period.
