Old Drawwell Cottage
II
Cottage, C16, extended in C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with handmade
red clay tiles. 4 bays aligned NE-SW, aspect NW, with one axial chimney stack.
C19 extension to SE of NE end, forming an L-plan. Single storey with attics.
2 doors, 3 windows, 2 more in gabled dormers, all removed for renovation at
time of survey, January 1984, but C19 cast iron windows being repaired for
replacement on this side. The interior has jowled posts, heavy studding, curved
bracing trenched inside studs. All floors in main range are inserted, supported
on pegged clamps. Transverse and axial beams, the latter with lamb's tongue
stops, plain joists of horizontal section. Roof rebuilt in softwood.
