House formerly a farmhouse. Probably C18 remodelled and extended in early to mid C19. Rendered stone rubble; left west end stone rubble slate hung. Asbestos tile roof with gabled ends. Large stone rubble rear lateral stack heightened in brick and stack at left hand gable end with short shaft. Plan and Development: Double depth plan. Two principal front rooms with a wide entrance hall between leading to a stairwell at the back. The larger left hand room has a gable end stack and small dairy behind. The right hand room is heated from a lateral stack at the rear with back to back fireplaces, that at the back heats the kitchen behind to the rear of which there is a scullery in a small near wing. The dairy in the 2-storey outshut and the small scullery wing appear to be early to mid C19 extensions. Exterior: 2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 3-window south front. Ground floor has C19 16-pane sashes and central doorway with C19 panelled door and early C20 wooden lattice porch. First floor has 3 smaller window openings with late C20 casements. The left end wall is behind and partly slate hung with scantle slates. The rear has 2 storey outshuts and wing to left encloses rear lateral stack; on the side of wing a circa early to mid C19 4-light casement with glazing bars and small panes. Including front garden area wall, gate piers and railings, C19 low slate rubble wall with slate coping and wrought iron railings above, curved back to gateway on left side of house; gateway at centre of wall has pair of square gate-piers with stone caps and C20 gate. Interior: Most of the C19 and some of the C18 joinery survives. Wide entrance hall with elliptical arch on console brackets, good open well open string staircase at the back of entrance hall with shaped tread ends, stick balusters and mahogany handrail wreathed over curtail. Front right hand room has early C19 reeded wooden chimney piece with moulded cornice. Front left hand room has Victorian marble chimney piece and grate. Kitchen has bracketed shelf over large blocked fireplace and dresser with reeded architrave to the shelves and 2-panel door to scullery behind the kitchen. Most of the panelled doors appear to be C19 although some of the doors on the first floor are said to be earlier 2-panel doors.
