GV II

House, possibly of C16 origins with C17 alterations, enlarged and altered again in 1900. Timber-framed, roughcast rendered and front wall cased in white brick in 1900. Steeply pitched, plain tiled roof with c.1620 ridge stack of red brick with grouped shafts set diagonally. Original plan of single range of three bays with lobby entry at rear. Two storeys. Four recessed horizontal sliding sashes at ground and first floor and two doorways, all 1900. The house was extended to the right hand in 1900. White brick and plain tile. Two storeys. Interior: The service end preserves the original partition wall between the pantry and buttery and two openings which are probably on the site of the original. The centre room has early C17 stop chamfered main beams and joists carried on a clamp. There are two abutting inglenook hearths of C17 red brick. The one to the parlour is sealed and has a surround of C18 panelling, possibly reset. The intersecting ceiling beams are chamfered. Of the timber framing only the wall plates of at least two roof raises is visible. R.C.H.M: record card
