Details
WITHNELL BOLTON ROAD (off) SD 62 SW 6/220 Brimmicroft Cottage - GV II
Cottage. Mid-C18, but with remains of earlier building at each end; altered. Watershot coursed sandstone with quoins, stone slate roof. Double-depth 2-bay plan. Two storeys; almost symmetrical, with gable chimneys; offset left a boarded and glazed door in plain surround, protected by a glazed porch; 2 windows on each floor, of 3 lights to the left and 2 lights to the right, those at ground floor with square stone mullions and those above sliding sashes with glazing bars. Continuation to left is single storey (but formerly with very steeply-pitched roof, as indicated by water-tabling) has a recessed 3-light chamfered mullion window and a stable door. Later addition at right hand end, and ruin of C17 building beyond that. Rear: inter alia two 2-light square mullioned windows at ground floor and one above. Interior not inspected.
