1/231 West Hall Farmhouse

II

House, late C17th, altered. Pebbledashed rubble with slate roof. Two storeys. Original house of 3 bays. Windows mullioned, rebated and hollow-chamfered. All are of 2 lights except for those to the right-hand bay which are of 3 lights. The door, in the central bay, has a surround of mid C18th type, chamfered and with an ogee shape on the lintel. At the right is an added bay which has windows with glazing bars and plain reveals, sashed on the 1st floor. Chimney at each side of original house. A rear wing, probably early C19th, has 3 re-set corbels and a date stone in its north-east wall. Two of the corbels have carved heads, the 3rd being carved with a shield of arms. The datestone is incribed: '1661 TCM'. Inside, on the 1st floor, are re-used turned balusters and a handrail, and re-used square moulded panelling, both C17th.
