7/166 Crow Hill Cottage 13.2.1967 - II
House, possibly C17th and C18th, altered. Slobbered rubble with stone slate roof. 2 storeys with 3 eaves heights. Southern section, with gable facing road, tallest. Northern section, a modern conversion, lower than middle section. Openings have plain reveals and are space irregularly. On the east side the southern section has a window on each floor. The middle section has a window on the ground floor, 2 on the 1st floor, and a door to the right. The south gable has 2 windows on the ground floor and one on the 1st floor. West wall has, in the middle section, a door with plain stone surround and a sashed window with glazing bars and similar surround to its right. Other openings have plain reveals. The southern section has a projecting stack with offsets against its west wall. 2nd chimney on ridge between 2 parts of house. Interior. Southern room has a large chamfered main ceiling joist and chamfered common joists. The fireplace is moulded and of Cl6th type, possibly re-used. Middle section has exposed ceiling joints. On the 1st floor of this part of the house are 2 roof trusses with plain king posts rising from tie beams, and a wall of wattle and daub in crude square panels: all could be C18th.
