Details
TL 4648 WHITTLESFORD NORTH ROAD (South side) 10/332 No.27 22.11.67 (Whittlesford Grove) (formerly listed The Grove) GV II Farmhouse, now a house. Late C16 remodelled with later addition, late C18 or early C19. Timber-framed and plastered with painted brick plinth. C20 plain tiled roof. C16 red brick end stack to right hand and rear stack each with three octagonal shafts. C19 wooden door, two flanking flush-framed twelve-paned hung sash windows and two three-light hung sash windows. Similar first floor windows of three-lights and one central twelve-paned hung sash window. Three horizontal sliding sash hipped dormer windows. Interior: Details largely C19. C16 strapwork frieze over four-centred arched clunch fire place recently exposed. Roll-moulded ceiling beam in rear wing. Butt purlin roof. The house was possibly restored by Ebenezer Hollick in the late C18.
