SWIMBRIDGE YEOLAND LANE (north side) SS 63 SW 8/221 Yeoland House, including Little Yeoland

House with cottage attached. Cottage C17 remodelled probably in circa 1830 when the house was built. Painted rendered stone. Hipped slate roofs to both house and cottage, house has asbestos slate roof to rear range. Cottage has axial brick stack, and 2 brick stacks to central valley of house. Cottage has 3 rooms in line with stack heating left hand room and with dairy and storesheds at right end. Cottage attached to house by lean-to to rear and greenhouse to front with lean-to roof of 3 sections with glazing bars to roof and facade supporting lapped glass, with doorway to left end. House is symmetrical double-depth central staircase plan. 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window range. C19 12-paned hornless sashes all with original glass. Central porch with Tuscan columns and engaged pilasters flanking round-arched doorway with 2-panelled door and plain fanlight. Moulded cornice with lions head guttering. Small cupola to centre of front range with ten roof to bellcote supported on timber struts and shaped brackets. Bell insitu. Round-arched stair window to rear. Cottage has old panelled doors at each end flanking C20 door above which is a 2-light casement, 3 panes per light; and 2 tall blind windows to dairy end. House retains much of its original features including plasterwork cornices. Cottage has some old joinery, chamfered beam to heated room with a lath and plaster smoke hood to right with chamfered bressumer.
