Details
BURES HAMLET TL 83 SE 4/28 Hill Farmhouse GV II House. C16/17, extended in C19 and C20. Timber framed, partly clad with painted brick in Flemish bond, partly roughcast, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Main range facing NE, with C16 external chimney stack at left gable end. Rear wing from left end, with end chimney stack, and C19 single-storey extension beyond, and C20 flat-roofed single-storey extension to left. Large extension to rear of right end and chimney stack, forming a catslide roof. Small lean-to extension between rear wings. 2 storeys and attics. 2-window range of late C18 sashes of 16 lights, with flat brick arches. Central doorway with flat brick arch converted to sash window, C20. Entrance door in right return wall. 2 grouped hexagonal shafts on right stack. Early C18 2-light window with wrought iron casement in upper rear wall. No access to interior at time of survey, April 1984. RCHM 11.
