GV II

Pair of lodges and gate, apparently intended for a large house that was never built. Mid C19. Lodges built of rough, pebble-like pieces of granite in rustic fashion. Slated roofs, low-pitched with 3-sided hips at the front. Oblong plan, the front corners splayed. 1 storey. The 3-sided front elevations have C20 wood mullioned-and-transomed windows, of 3 lights on the front and 2 lights at the sides. 4-panelled door in each of the inward-facing sides. On the outer side of each lodge an original lean-to of the same material. Gateposts are solid, square- section and rendered, having projecting plinths and moulded caps with low pyramidical caps. Gate is of open woodwork composed of flat, diagonally-set bars forming a pyramid of inverted Vs; at left-hand side 2 iron strap-hinges with spade- shaped terminals. Interiors not inspected.
