GV II

House, C17, altered in C18 and C20. Timber framed, weatherboarded, roof thatched. 2 bays aligned approx. N-S with axial chimney stack in N bay, and 2-bay crosswing to N, forming an L-plan, with C19 external chimney stack on N wall. Early C20 extension with slate roof to E of crosswing, and later C20 flat-roofed extension to E of N-S range. Single storey with attics. W elevation, C20 glazed door, one tripartite double-hung sash window of 2-4-2 lights, one double-hung sash window of 4 lights, and one more on first floor, all late C19. Recessed panel in base of main chimney stack. The interior has jowled posts and heavy studding. The floor of the N-S range has plain-chamfered beams with lamb's tongue stops and joists of vertical section jointed to them with soffit tenons with diminished haunches. The floor of the crosswing has been rebuilt in the C18. Large wood-burning hearth of C17 bricks. RCHM 17.
