House, now used as site office. Probably late C18th. Limestone rubble
with limestone dressings and slate roof. 2 1/2 storeys, with extension to
right. Central doorway with plain stone surround now blocked. To the left
is a door with plain reveals. To the right are two sashed windows with
glazing bars, separated by a square stone mullion and with a plain stone
lintel and sill. On the first floor to the left is a sashed window with
glazing bars and plain reveals. To the right is a Venetian window surround
of plain stone, having sashed windows with glazing bars. Two attic windows
with plain reveals. Right-hand extension has doorway with plain reveals
and modern window with plain reveals on the ground floor, a sashed window
with glazing bars and plain reveals on the 1st floor and an attic window
with plain reveals, glazing bars and pivoted casement. Rear wall partly
obscured by later buildings. Left-hand end has sashed windows with glazing
bars and plain reveals: one on the ground floor and two on the 1st floor.
In the centre is a blocked opening with plain stone surround, with a stair
window above having plain reveals and small leaded panes. Interior. Central
room has free Greek revival detail of early-to-mid C19th type. Venetian
window has elliptical inner relieving arch, attached columns with Adam-style
capitals and a naturalistic vine frieze. Barn adjoining to south has wide
entrance with plain reveals.
