14/162 Barn about 5 metres north of Old Vicarage 20.2.53 (formerly listed as Old Recreation Room)

GV II

Barn, then public hall, now dis-used. C17, with some late C19 alterations. Timber-frame with painted brick infill, partially weatherboarded; on a coursed rubble plinth under a pantile roof. Five framed bays aligned north-west/south- east. North-west front has three casement windows, with an entrance to right of centre which has a C19 ledged and boarded door within a wooden architrave. The central bay formed the threshing floor, and the doorway has been blocked with rendered brickwork and planted framing. Framing: three square panels high with short angle braces. Gable-end trusses have four struts to collar and V-struts in the apex. (RCHM, 3, p 198, no 18).
