6/50 Lane Head Farmhouse and attached barn
II
Farmhouse, probably later C17, and attached barn, possibly rather earlier. Rubble with stone slate roof. Farmhouse is of 2 cells with porch at right hand end to which is attached a further small room. Two storeys. The windows are double chamfered stone mullion windows of 2 lights and 2 (formerly 4) lights. Enclosed stone porch with chamfered doorways. At first floor are 2 3-light windows with recessed square mullions. At rear at left hand side are 2-light unmoulded window, with above a 3-light double chamfered stone mullion window, probably enlarged. Inside is an elliptical fireplace with chamfered jambs. Corbels above it support chamfered beams. The roof has 2 king-post trusses with angle struts, braced to the ridge. The barn had opposed cart entries but one has been blocked; some chamfered doorways. The internal wall is thickened in three places on either side suggested as the footings of former raised crucks.
