5/60 old Stable Court
GV II
Stables, now houses and garage. Early C18, remodelled and restored in 1930s. Brick with hipped tile roof. Square plan with central courtyard. East front: two storeys, dentilled and dog-tooth brick cornice, stepped plinth and band to first floor. 4 + 3 + 4 windows, the central portion slightly advanced. Horizontally sliding sashes under segmental heads, the head and jambs in a redder brick than remainder of wall. Ground floor windows are almost all blind, save for two to right-hand corner and one to left-hand corner. There was a central carriage entry with a segmental head, blocked on brick. Roof capped by a restored wooden bell turret of square plan, the upper part louvred with Doric pilasters and pedimented in each direction, the lower part clad in copper with a clock face, all capped by a wrought iron weathervane.
