GV II
House. Early C17 with late C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Part timber- framed with painted brick infill, painted brick replacement walling and additions on sandstone rubble base; fishscale and plain tiled roofs. L- plan; main part of two framed bays aligned north/south; large external rubble chimney with brick stack to south-east enclosed within single-bay wing. Part two storeys, attic and cellar, part single storey. Framing: four panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces in lower corners, collar and tie-beam truss at north gable end partly rebuilt; south gable end rebuilt in brick. South front elevation: gable end of framed part to left has a ground and first floor 3-light casement with cambered heads, an attic light and double doors into the cellar; single-storey wing to right built on platform cut out of adjacent sandstone outcrop; ground floor has 2-light casement and C20 main entrance door approached by flight of steps with wrought iron balustrade. Interior: south bay of main part has stop-chamfered main beams supported on large console; beneath console is a large open fireplace.
