10/63 The Old Forge (formerly listed and House and 19.8.53 Smithy 60 yards west of Stony Court)

GV II

House. C14 hall with C17 cross-wing and further C17 additions. C19 and C20 alterations. Part large square panelled timber-framing with painted brick infill, sandstone rubble plinth, tiled roof. Hall range of four bays aligned east/west with former doorway to east end, cross-wing at west end and lateral stacks. Single-storey hall range with pointed arch headed doorway now blocked to left. Four-pane window to left of part glazed C20 door. Two-storey gable end of cross-wing to right with 3-light casement window. Jettied upper floor to cross-wing now underbuilt. Interior retains cruck truss and chamfered ceil- ing beams. (RCHM, Vol III, p 165, item 20).
