Details
LAYSTERS CP SO 56 SW 7/35 Woonton Court II Farmhouse. C16, altered and extended during C17, further altered during late C18 or early C19. Sandstone rubble refacing to timber-framed house; sandstone rubble later additions, brick infill to timber-framing revealed to rear, rubble stacks and shafts. L-plan with main range aligned south- west/north-east facing south-east and wing extending to rear; further additions to south-west end. Lateral stack to rear with decorative stone shafts, further axial stack, entrance to south-east front. Single storey and attic, two storeys to later addition. South-east front: two 2-light casement windows to later addition to left, gable end of cross-wing with two 2-light casement windows to first floor and French casements to ground floor, main range to right with three gabled dormers with 3-light casement windows, one 5-light C20 window and one 3-light window to right of ledged door. There are seven rows of nesting boxes with alighting ledges to north- east gable end. Interior reveals steeply chamfered beams to central room. (RCHM, Vol 3, p 104).
