Wesleyan Chapel, 1779 dated in relief letters on sunk panel in south wall. Herringbone-tooled sandstone on plinth with stone coping; alternating-blocked raised quoins, stepped eaves band. Pantiled roof. Large-scale building on two levels, the rear part (accommodating top of gallery) higher up the hill. Street front one tall storey, two wide bays. At right a two-leaf six-panel door in plain reveal with keyed wedge lintel. Two very large fixed lights, with glazing bars and margin lights, have similar keyed lintels and projecting cills. Hipped roof with stone ridges. Steep steps rise alongside left return which is two storeys and basement four bays and a one-bay raised left part. Four replaced sashes with glazing bars; inserted basement door. Small flat-roofed porch, with six-panel door on inner return, at far left.

INTERIOR: converted to concert hall above and picture gallery below. Upper floor retains original raked, concentric panelled gallery seating.
