Details
BECKFORD CP GRAFTON SO 9837 - 9937 11/43 Barn and cowshed about 20 yards east of Manor Farmhouse GV II
Barn and cowshed. C17 with mid-C20 alterations. Part limestone rubble and part timber-framed and weatherboarded on rubble base with corrugated metal roof. Three framed bays aligned north/south, central wagon bay having opposed cart entries. Framing: three rows of panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in upper corners. End walls are rubble. There are two inter- mediate collar an tie-beam trusses with raking struts and also subsidiary small raking struts in lower corners; two tiers of purlins. The cowshed adjoins the north gable end. It is of a single storey and three bays with a door and small openings in its west elevation and north end. The roof has two intermediate king-post roof trusses. The interior retains its continuous oak and elm feeding manger and there is a poultry loft situated on a half-floor above the manger.
