Details

CONDERTON CP - SO 9637 - 9737 10/58 No 56 GV II

House. C17, altered and extended c1909, probably by Ernest Newton for Richard Biddulph Martin. Coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings; thatched roof, hipped at north end and with brick stack at north end of ridge. Two-and-half bays aligned north/south with chimney at north end of central bay. Single storey and attic with dormers. Windows are all C20 leaded casements. West front elevation: ground floor has three 2- light windows, one per bay, (the northernmost one has a cambered head and there is a central eyebrow dormer with a 2-light window. Between the central and southernmost ground floor window is a blocked opening. The north-west corner is angled and ashlar-faced. Set in the angle is the present main entrance which has a lean-to canopy on shaped bracket and a C20 door with a cambered head. South gable end has an attic light and the original purlin ends are visible.
