2/124 Chest tomb about 18 yards south of the chancel of the Church of St John the Baptist
GV II
Chest tomb. Dated 1630(?). Sandstone ashlar. Narrow with half-columns set back at corners and also two at each side with frieze above. Between columns are recessed round-headed panels. The slightly hipped capping is later and probably re-used from another tomb. At the west end is a partly illegible inscription within the panel. The date "1630" is inscribed in the spandrels. An unusual early and boldly detailed chest tomb.
