Details
MUCH DEWCHURCH CP - SO 43 SE 6/85 Black Swan 20.10.52 GV II Public house. Possibly C16 or C17, with later alterations. Sandstone rubble finished in paint. Welsh slate roof and sandstone rubble stack with brick shafts. Rectangular plan aligned east/west. Two storeys. South elevation has three windows, 2-light late C19 casements to first floor. Contemporary casements to ground floor, the centre one of two lights, the outer pair of three lights. Stepped sandstone external front side stack with brick shaft to centre to right of which is early C20 gabled canopy and 6-panelled mid-C19 entrance door. Attached to right is a low one-bay range linking to C19 granary set at right angles. Interior has heavy chamfered ceiling beams forming panels in west ground floor room. Timber-framed cross-wall and doorway with 4-centred head. (RCHM, Vol I, p 52).
