Details
KEMERTON CP MAIN STREET (north side) SO 9437 - 9537 9/82 The Grange - II
House. Mid-C18 with late C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions. Coursed dressed limestone rubble, ashlar-faced and slate roof which has gable-end ashlar parapets with gabled finials. Two tall brick chimneys at rear. Two storeys and attic with band at first floor level of front elevation. Three bays with rusticated end quoins. Windows have raised stone architraves and outer bays have 12-pane sashes on both floors. Central first floor long round- headed stair window which interrupts first floor band and has a moulded keyblock, imposts and a 3-pane sash with traceried glazing bars beneath the arched head. The central entrance has a pediment, (situated immediately beneath the stair window), entablature, flanking pilasters and a multi-paned C20 door. Attic lights in gable ends. There is a two-storey rear range with a C20 hipped- roofed porch wing adjoining the left side with a 4-pane sash facing the front and the main entrance door at the side. Adjoining the right side of the rear wing is a long range of roughly five bays. It is of a single storey and attic with gabled half-dormers which have large stone mullioned and transomed windows.
