Details

MUCH DEWCHURCH CP - SO 43 SE 6/87 Grove Farmhouse and attached granary GV II

Farmhouse. Probably C17 and C18 with late C18 to early C19 granary attached and later alterations. Sandstone rubble and timber-frame with Welsh slate roofs. Sandstone rubble and brick stacks. Rectangular plan aligned north/ south with small projection to west at south end and granary to north. Two storeys and attic. East elevation has four windows, 3-light C20 casements with one 2-light casement to left of centre. Gabled dormer with 2-light late C19 casement to right of centre. Beneath the dormer the windows have blocked segmental heads above the casements. Timber-frame exposed to left. Gabled C20 porch with glazed return to left of centre has entry with segmental head. Glazed lean-to C20 porch to right. Granary is advanced slightly and has two segmentally headed openings with tallet stairs rising from left. West elevation has front stack to small gabled projection. Interior of granary has three structural bays. The trusses have raking struts from ties to principals. Interior of farmhouse not inspected.
