2/32 Beavan & Higgins memorial about 42 metres north of north porch of Church of St Mary

GV II

Chest tomb. c1800. Ashlar. Corner balusters, moulded cornice, bevelled top, inscription panels framed by swags of husks, low relief classical urns to ends. North inscription: "Sacred to the Memory/ of/ Ann Wife of the late/ William Beavan of Middlemoor in this Parish Gent/ who departed this Life/ 11 day of Oct 1804/ Aged 49 years/ [ 2 more lines ]", Also commemorates Martha Higgins, died 1788. This is a good example of stone masonry and enhances the setting of the church; it contributes to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
