2/43 Watkins children memorial about 22 metres north-west of west tower of Church of St Mary

Chest tomb. Watkins children, died 1757 - 1768. Bold corner balusters decorated with crossed sprigs of wheat, inscription panel flanked by drapery swags, moulded cornice, bevelled top. Inscription: "To the Memory of Seven of the Children of/ James Watkins Esq and Ann his Wife/ who departed this life in infancy/ James died July 12th 1757 Aged 3 Years/ Anne died Decr 25th 1759 Aged 3 Years/ James died Oct 16th 1759 Aged 7 Months/ Anne died May 3rd 1762 Aged 7 months/ James died April lst 1765 Aged 14 Days/ Thomas died March 12th 1768 Aged 5 Years/ Anne died April 18th 1768 Aged 3 Years". This is a good example of stone masonry and enchances the setting of the church; it contributes to the group value of the other memorials in the churchyard.
