Details

OVERBURY CP - SO 9437 - 9537 9/111 Laundry Cottage and The Old Laundry GV II

House, converted to laundry, now divided into two houses. Circa 1900 remodelling of mid-C18 building with mid-C20 alterations. Coursed lime- stone rubble with ashlar dressings, machine-tiled roofs with gable-end parapets and ashlar ridge end stacks; stacks have moulded cappings and east end stack has two large square shafts. Two storeys. One plus three bays. Windows are all leaded casements. North elevation: single-bay part has a 3-light windows on both floors and the main entrance to the right has a gabled rustic timber porch and a ledged and battened door. The three-bay part is lower in height and has a 2-light and a 3-light window with cambered heads on the ground floor, a central first floor 2-light window and central entrance with a flat moulded canopy on shaped brackets and a half-glazed door. There is a single-storey wing to the rear of the single-bay part. The building is prominently situated adjacent to the Village Hall (qv). Included for group value.
