Details

1. 5363 BATH STREET (West side)

GV No 10, Front garden ST 7747 NE 10/8 31.1.74 wall and wall piers II

2. Later C17/early C18, altered circa 1774. 2 storeys, 3 windows, glazing bar sashes in architraves, (early C19 alterations, the original probably had paired outer windows). Central door of 6 panels with architrave and slab hood on brackets. Pantile roof with end chimneys of stone. Garret lights in north-east gable. 'L' plan extension to rear with tall cross mullion stair window to north-east with beaded surround (similar to Nos 16 and 17 Stony Street but probably later ie c.1720). Slightly later 1½ storey extension to north with gabled dormer and cast-iron oval rainwater head. Interior: good early C18 stair with heavy rail and splat balusters end dog-gate in later (circa 1770 Chinese Chippendale) pattern. Ground floor front right-hand room panelled with shell hood display cupboard and Tudor Gothick (C20) fireplace. A studded door in passage. Long front garden with dwarf stone wall and panelled piers of circa 1811.
