Detached bell tower south of Church of St Bartholomew

Detached bell tower. C13 lower section, upper part C16. Sandstone rubble
lower section, timber-framed upper section; pyramidal tiled roof. Rectangular
plan. Three stages; lower two of stone with two-centred head to doorway in
east wall, lancet with label to south and west walls and similar slightly
later lancets to second stage to south, west and east, with label to south
window only. Close-studded timber-framing to top stage with pair of square-
headed vents to each side. (RCHM, Vol II, p 88; BoE, p 195).
