Former lodge to Haccombe House (q.v.). Probably early C19, contemporary with the rebuilding of the house. Whitewashed and rendered ; deep thatched roof, carried down over a verandah on 3 sides ; axial stack with rendered shaft. Cottage ornee. Plan: 2 room plan, principal room to the front, service room to the rear. One of 2 lodges to the house, the other burnt down before 1955 (old list description). Exterior: Single-storey and attic. Symmetrical 1 window front with a 4-bay rustic verandah on renewed posts with a short eaves canopy fronted with split logs, the verandah continuing for 5-bays on each return. Canted bay window to the front with C19 casement windows with ornamental leaded panes, casement windows with ornamental leaded panes to each return. The rear bays of the verandah on the returns have been enclosed, forming a porch on the left return. Attic dormers in the thatch, 3 to the right return, 2 to the left and one in the centre with C19 casement windows with ornamental leaded panes. Interior: Not inspected. An attractive thatched lodge is an isolated position.
