LATCHINGDON BURNHAM ROAD TL 80 SE (south side) 2/31 Thatch Cottage II
House. Late C17, extended in C20. Timber framed, plastered with framing exposed, and some weatherboarding, roof thatched. 4 bays facing N with central stack, forming a lobby-entrance. C19/C20 lean-to extension at left end extending to rear, with felted roof, and C20 extension to rear right. One storey with attics. 3 C20 casements. C20 door. Chamfered transverse beams with plain stops, tenoned and ledged into storey-posts with half-height jowls; plain joists of vertical section. Primary straight bracing. Clasped purlin roof with rafters of wide section. 2 wide wood-burning hearths, of which one has been refaced in modern brickwork. Original quarter-turn stair to rear of stack. Some old doors with original ironwork.
