- II

Formerly Higher Manor Farmhouse, now house. C17 or early C18, much modified. Rendered rubble or cob, thatched roof. A long block with possible cross passage to left of ridge stack, and perhaps originally a long-house; at the left hand end is a lower hipped element stepped down to road level, the remainder being set well up from road. Two storeys, scatter of windows, mainly horizontal-bar casements; ground floor is a 2-light in the projecting arm, C20 door to thatched hood, a 3-light, 2-light probably to former doorway and with a projecting hood, and a 4-light. First floor has 2:3:2:3 light, not aligned with windows below. Cropped stack, raised in brick, to hipped right end, ridge stack off-centre left. Low unit has wide garage doors, and the roof, swept down to the right, covers a pump. Eight stone steps up to door. Left return has rounded corner with 1 over 1 two-light casements in projection, and 3 over 3-light tto main hipped end. Interior retains no early features; roof not inspected. The pro- jecting arm is reputed to have been used at some stage by Wesleyans as a meeting house.
