TL 50 NE WILLINGALE MILLERS GREEN ROAD (West side) 5/105 Hill Farm Cottage
II
House, late C14-early C15, timber framed and plastered, part two storey and part one storey and attics. Former hall house with crosswing at south end. Front shows a half hipped peg tile roof with gabled single storey block on north end. Off-centre stack through front roof slope and small stack against south gable. Two gabled peg tiled dormers and unarticulated triangle gable towards north end. Windows are C20 small pane casements. Rear has continuous peg tile lean-to with horizontal roof light and large lean-to dormer of peg tiles. Internally substantial remains of timber frame of early C15 house with contemporary crosswing which has had its front gable removed. Crownpost of cross-quadrant type, reused as stair newel post. C17 stack and inglenook. Old front door, now in outbuilding, has semi-circular hood with scalloped shell pattern. Door has moulded battens and is of solid oak boards and probably late C16. (RCHM 8).
